I share my sister’s sentiments… Aunty Vicky and Uncle Joe weren’t biological relatives, they were more than that, they were our aunt and uncle of the heart and always will… and their children Butch, Linda and John are our “cousins.” Linda is our honorary “Big Sister” too. We were so lucky to have had all of your in our lives; and, a special thank you for Aunty Vicky and Uncle Joe for being influential in “saving” the five of us from what could have been an even more precarious future. I have so many good memories starting from my earliest years of spending time with Aunty Vicky and Uncle Joe, Butch, Linda and John. There was so much fun in simple things, like just playing outside until dark. Always wonderful home made meals. Aunty Vicky made the best fried chicken I have ever had. And when you hear people say horrible things about Christmas fruit cake, it’s for sure they hadn’t tried Aunty Vicky’s. Aunty Vicky always spoke her mind, shared her advice, and always made us laugh. She was kind and generous to us. Most of all, she and Uncle Joe always made us feel welcome. Heaven has gained one special lady! God bless you Aunty Vicky, and Uncle Joe, too, My sincerest condolences to the family, especially Linda and John. Love, Concha and Robert Macias and family

She could dance the socks off my dad but she had a comedic flare to her personality. She could have been the Latin” Lucy. She would get funny and do humorous antics that had us laughing. And she was very mystical. We loved the stories she shared with us of the strange happenings around her neighborhood in Texas. I use to do Native American story telling at the Dept of Language Institute in Monterey and one year I told a story about a girl named Vita who lived in a small community in Texas and the strange experience she had. The audience loved it and wanted more … but I told them that was for another time and place. I never told my mom that I shared a story of her life with others. It just never came up but I know should tsk at me and say “Aye, mija, why would you tell them that?” But I think she have liked it.
