Shizue Suzy Hirabayashi's Obituary
Suzy was born Shizue Miyagawa on January 6, 1922, in Oakland, California. She was the middle child of five.When she was seven years old, her father moved the family back to Hiroshima, Japan. It was there that Shizue graduated high school. She especially enjoyed sewing, embroidery and flower arranging.In June, 1941, Shizue returned to the United States to join her husband, Yoshitomo. In 1942 they were ordered to the internment camp in Topaz, Utah.Shizue and Yoshitomo raised five children while living in Alameda then Oakland for many years. In 1973 they moved to Castro Valley.She loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, mizuhiki, flower-making, jewelry-making, origami, cooking Japanese food, baking apple pies, playing the slot machines and spending time with her friends and family.We will miss you!
