Shama and I were school friends at Loreto Convent Asansol, run by Irish nuns . Being much of the same height & build , we were thrown together on many occasions , much to our mutual delight . We were taller than most of our classmates so were always at the end of all class lines . Shama wasn’t mischievious , I was , but she never, ever told on me . I could have gotten into serious trouble if she had ! We were together at school fetes,on sports events , school shows . The one occasion that is memorable is us doing the balancing beam together . Years later when I watched my granddaughter doing her beams at gymnastics I would think of Shama & tell her . We met strangely enough years later when my son rented a house right next to Shama’s . It was so strange to meet my friend after forty-five years . She held my hand & introduced me to all her friends in the neighbourhood . We kept in touch after this . The highlight of visiting my son was not only, my precious grandchild , but also my dear friend next door . What fun times we had together . like school girls again . School friends are not friends in later life , they become sisters . Shama was ever soft spoken , kind-hearted, generous , loving , interested . She wanted to be in touch with everyone .Face book helped . We shall all miss her terribly Rest in Peace dear friend . You have been loved & cherished in life , and will be remembered fondly always ..
