Filipina Starts Anew in America (USA)Dr. Milagros Vibat Ibarra, 84, of Sacramento, CA, passed into eternal rest Monday, May 9th 2011. She was born in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippine Islands to Salustiano K. Vibat and Cicilia Villamil on January 4, 1927. She graduated from a private all girls school in the Philippines and went on to receive her Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of Santo Tomas. She married the late Estanislao Solomon Ibarra in February, 1957, and then they started their new journey to America (USA). They first lived in San Francisco, California, and then they later relocated to Fremont, CA in 1966. They lived in Fremont until the passing of Estanislao in November,1993. She later relocated to Sacramento, California.Milagros had a gift for generosity by packing up boxes of goodies to send to her relatives in the Philippines. She found great joy in seeking unique items such as American chocolate to send to the children of her family in the Philippines. She loved to dance, collect hats and to cook many special dishes from her homeland from pinacbet to adobo but, her passion was her plants. Many of her plants were grafted as gifts from family and friends and with her constant devotion her garden flourished to produce many fruits.Milagros was an active member of several Filipino organizations in Fremont from the Tri-City Phil-American Seniors, Inc. to the Pangasinan Association and was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her proudest moment was when she was crowned Queen 2002 of the Tri-City Phil-American Seniors, Inc.Milagros is survived by her children: Arlene and her husband Ray Salvador, of Wilton, CA; Stan Ibarra, of Citrus Heights, CA and Milo Ibarra, of Galt, CA. She also is survived by four grandchildren Raymond Salvador, Reina Salvador, Desiree Mills, Charlie Ibarra and two great grandchildren: Gwendolyn and Gabriela Mills.A viewing will be held Sunday, May 15th, 5:30pm to 8:30pm with a rosary at 6:00pm. On Monday, May 16th, funeral services and final burial will be held at10:00am.
