On Christmas we eagerly awaited the arrival of a gift pack from Uncle and Auntie Meg, chocolates that Tony mentioned. One Christmas the box contained some beautiful half slips (worn all the time a generation ago) in different colours, pink, white, yellow, with the most beautiful lace we have seen, not available in the Philippines. My mother and I had two each. They were so beautiful sometimes I would deliberately wear a short skirt so that the lace of the half slips would show. I was so proud of those gifts that were bought by Auntie Meg. We thank her for making our childhood happy times to remember. Auntie Meg gave me a “home” when I was stationed at Alameda, CA in 1988 – 89. I was often homesick, and so would go to their house in Fremont, CA where Auntie Meg would cook pinakbet or tinola for dinner with me. Oh I miss those!I remember, as a child back in the Philippines, we would receive goodies from Uncle and Auntie which my Mom would keep and stretch the distribution of the goodies for a long time so that we would get a piece of chocolate one day, and another piece after a week or so. My mother kept the tin cans that contained the chocolates as they came so nicely printed. She would use it to keep her sewing tools which reminded me throughout the years of the chocolates that Auntie and Uncle sent us.May Auntie rest in peace in the company of Uncle and the Lord. We offer our prayers to Stan, Arlene and Milo that they be comforted in this time of grief and sorrow. I’m glad to have made it to the viewing.##imported-begin##Tony I. Galace##imported-end##
