Lynda Alice Sandoval's Obituary
Lynda Sandoval of Hayward California passed away March 9, 2020 surrounded by her family at the age of 72. Lynda was born August 31, 1947 in Santa Fe New Mexico to Frank Martinez and Rose Gallegos. After leaving New Mexico as a child Lynda and her family made their way to the Bay Area, California where she lived out the remainder of her years. Growing up she attended High Street Holmes Elementary, Winton Middle School and Sunset high School. It was at Sunset High School were she met the love of her life Ernest Sandoval and they married September 7, 1962 celebrating 58 years of marriage, what a rare and selfless love they shared. Those that knew Lynda would describe her as a warrior with the fighting spirit, she fought every single day to have more time with her family. She was all about her family, she was a mother and protector to anyone in need and an amazing loyal friend above all else. She had a smile that would brighten up a room and amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She was a fighter and she fought to the very end, she was resilient, charismatic, selfless and brave. She was passionate for life and people and she never took a single day for granite. Throughout her life she loved her job as a supervisor for a Atari, spending countless hours at the ballpark volunteering for Hayward West National Little League, writing children’s books, being very fashionable at all times, cooking and most of all spending time with all her family. She has touched so many peoples lives throughout her years and the world was a better place because of her.
Lynda is survived by her husband Ernest Sandoval, her children Mark Sandoval, Tom (Deb) Sandoval, Tracy Sandoval-Gallegos, Angie (Scott) Black, Hans (Rosanna) Sandoval, George (Furlinda) Sandoval, Dustin (Lisa) Diamond, daughter-in-laws Buffy Gaitan, Stacey Garcia, Sylvia Sandoval, 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, siblings Jeanette Hansen, Frank Martinez, Bill Martinez, Sharon Ortiz, Debbi Angulo, Sandy Johnson, sister-in-laws Sophie “Sister Sophie” Aretta, Josie Feliciano, Cindy Carreon, 22 nieces and nephews, 47 great nieces and nephews and 11 great great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Antonio and ”Pita” Gallegos, Father Edward Meyers, In-Laws Joseph and Sophie Sandoval , Daughter in law Sally Gallegos, Grandson Christopher Gomes, best friend Bert Whiteside and many others family members that she is now reunited with in Heaven.
Funeral services for Lynda Sandoval will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward (inside the Mission Chapel) Wednesday, March 18, 2020 from 5 to 9 PM.
