Luisa was my first friend in kindergarten at Jedediah Smith in San Francisco.
We continued our friendship into Portola Jr. High and Balboa High.
We had our last chat when I was on the committee planning our 50th Class reunion.
She informed me she had just lost her husband and we would catch up later.
Unfortunately we never got the chance to catch up.
My husband read the post about her death and informed me.
After reading her Obit, I'm just so glad to know she had a full life with lots of Love and family.
May God comfort her family and friends during this time of grief.
Rest well my friend!!🧡💙

Luisa Blue and I—along with many other warriors for racial, social, and economic justice—got into a lot of “good trouble” during our work in unions and the broader progressive movement.

This not only included a long list of campaigns to help working people to empower themselves and unite to win better wages, better working conditions, and progressive change, it also included internal battles to build better unions and progressive organizations. I’ll be forever proud and grateful for the stellar, courageous, and graceful work and leadership Luisa brought to every table and every battle. She modeled how to act with the courage of our convictions, even when we KNOW it’s going to cost us something.

I join with her many loved ones, family members, and friends in thanking God for the life of Luisa Blue, and thanking Luisa for the way she chose to live it. Her devotion to improving the lives of others blessed countless people, including me. The positive effects of her work on people's lives will undoubtedly continue to ripple for many generations to come.

Well done, Dear Sister Luisa.

in honor of Luisa.

I first met Luisa when I was in my 20s and starting out in the labor movement. As a young Asian American woman, I was so relieved and excited to meet Luisa- a welcoming and fierce Asian American organizer and leader! She provided incredible mentorship and support for many young organizers. I reconnected with her this last decade through the immigrant justice movement and had the great privilege of getting arrested with her to win a pathway to citizenship for immigrant youth. Luisa made the 6 hours we spent in jail together fly by. She most recently served as the chair of the NAKASEC Action Fund, where she brought so much wisdom, expertise, humor and encouragement. Luisa is deeply missed, and we are comforted by knowing that what she taught us and her legacy will live on through so many people and organizations.
