LUIS GLINDRO LORICA's Obituary
Luis Glindro Lorica, known affectionately as "Kano" from his hometown, Amontay, Pitogo, Quezon, “Louie" to friends and family, and "Papa" to his wife, children, and grandchildren, passed away on April 30, 2024, in Washington Hospital, Fremont, CA. He was born on December 5, 1954, to Marcelo and Isidra Lorica, with 11 siblings: Carmen, Alicia, Nelson, Adolfo, Abel, Ruel, Josue, Ariel, Agnes, Pedrito, and Maricel.
After leaving his hometown, he went to live in Crame, San Juan, Metro Manila, under the care of his Tio Romy Gavino Romero and Tia Ton Asuncion Romero, and his guardian sister, Alice, who helped sign him up for the military service at the age of 17. In 1972, he started his training at Canlubang, Laguna, and joined the Philippine Constabulary. This was followed by the Battalion Commander at Camp Crame in 1980.
In the same year, he became a father to Karen and Klemen through his girlfriend, Clemen Malapo, who passed away after giving birth to the twins. Moving on in life as a single parent with the support of siblings, multiple housemates, cousins, uncles, and aunts, he later met Cynthia in 1982, who would then be his wife when they had a beautiful wedding ceremony in Baguio. In 1985, they had their first son, Kim, second son, Kenneth, in 1986, and their third son, Kelvin Joseph, in 1991.
Through the linear of immigration from his parents-in-law, Pedro and Ruth Suratos, they were able to migrate to the United States, residing between Hayward, Newark, Lincoln, and Fremont, California.
Louie's hobbies included a lot of cooking, taking care of his grandchildren, hanging out with family, repairing and tinkering at home, walking with his dog, Kardo, playing bingo whenever chance permitted, and playing cards and mahjong back in the Philippines.
Sadly, Louie was predeceased by his parents and 6 siblings. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his surviving family: his wife, his children, his 14 grandchildren: Kerwin, Kyle, Keysean, Kayessa Gavin, Klyde Ian, Karl Thomas, Kendall Alliyana, Kingston Jayden, Kamren Jordan, Keith Robert, Kiara Alex, Kamila Annelise, Theo Joseph, Alina Sofia, 5 siblings with many nieces and nephews, and an equally colossal size of family-in-law.
Luis "Kano" Glindro Lorica will be remembered as a fierce loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
