Karen Rippy's Obituary
Karen Marie Rippy was 56-years old when she left this world. She resided in Hayward for her entire life and graduated from Tennyson High School in 1973. Karen worked in finance and married the love of her life, Michael Rippy, on January 19, 1979. Karen and Michael welcomed their daughter, Michelle Renee Rippy, in September 1981. Karen reentered the workforce a few years later, through being an amazing mother and caring wife were still her top priorities. In 1995, Karen began working as a bookkeeper at Mt. Eden High School which she very much enjoyed. Karen's huge heart, loving personality and kind demeanor drew people to her. Karen also volunteered with Kali, her king shepherd, at retirement communities where Kali worked as a therapy dog. Karen is survived by her husband, Michael, daughter, Michelle, parents Paul and Dorothy Havlicek, siblings Paul Havlicek, Kim Hague and Lisa Souza. Karen is also survived by her grandmother, Hazel Duarte, and many nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends, including her best friend Jean Hakanson. Karen is predeceased by grandfather, Thomas Duarte. Karen's Celebration of Life will occur on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 6PM at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward ' Mission Chapel.
