JORDAN TYLER FLORES's Obituary
July 15, 1993 – November 6, 2013Jordan left this world too soon. Jordan was born In Castro Valley. He grew up in San Leandro, Auburn, Fayetteville AR and Alameda. He graduated from Encinal High School in Alameda in June 2011. He joined the Army after high school.Specialist (SPC) enlisted in the US Army on August 1, 2011 as a Cryptologic Linguist (35P); completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and was training as a Spanish Linguist at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey CA. Upon graduating from the Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas, SPC Flores was assigned to Charlie Company 204th Military Intelligence Battalion (Aerial Reconnaissance), Fort Bliss, Texas, where he used his linguistic and analytical skills to assist the unit in conducting airborne intelligence electronics warfare operations in support of the U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Central Command. His current assignment was with the Headquarters Operations Company (HOC), 742nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 704th Military Intelligence Brigade, where he was preparing for his job as an Intelligence Analyst. Awards: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.Jordan leaves behind his family: his father, Daniel Flores; his mother, Rebecca Sommer; His stepmother, Melissa Flores; his stepfather, Jeremy Sommer; his brother, Senior Airman Tristan Flores; sister Nicole Sutherland, Ember Sommer and brother Javen Sommer. Grandparents – Albino & Florencia Flores; Step-Grandparents, Lewis and Bette Johnson. Aunts and uncles and their families: Julie Flores, Mickey Librero, BJ, Tony, & Jenny, Albino Jr & Elsie, AJ, Kayella Flores, David & Andrea, David Jr, Camille Flores. Rebecca & Boris, Amalia Spivak, Esther & Ralph Hardwick, Mary Johnson; Great Uncle Bruce, Brian Vierra, Joshua Loberg, Jessica, Raya Loberg, Micah & Patrice, Baris, Josie Loberg, Kelly & Tim, Otis, and Isabella Walsh, as well as many cousins and extended family members. Preceded in death: great-grandparents, Manuel and Josephine Vierra, and grandma Paulette Vierra.Jordan had a wonderful smile. He loved life, the Army, and had many friends everywhere he went. He enjoyed music, a good movie, and messing with computers. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Jordan will be deeply missed. You may be gone in the physical world but you will always be in our hearts, and your spirit will live on.A celebration of his life was held from 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm on Saturday, November 16th, at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward CA, 94544. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 17th, at 10:00 am, at the same location.
