Mr. John Francis “Jack” Mattos was like loving father to me and always concerned about my ministry. He showed no favorites and was sincerely interested in what I was doing and CARED. I think of him as a dear Father image. Thanks, too, to his children and my brother TR who looked after him with devotion and love.May he rest in peace with his God and loving wife,Amen##imported-begin##Sister Pat Bietsch, OSF##imported-end##
Uncle Jack always seemed to have a twinkle in his eye and a smile hovering around his mouth – a family trait that all the brothers including my dad Stan, seem to have. Uncle Jack was always the “big” presence at any of the old family gatherings we all attended when we were kids. He always seemed to have the best seat in the house, whether it be lawn chair or wingback. I am happy to be able to say that I got to know Uncle Jack better on my visits to my parents house when Uncle Jack was making one of his visits also. And I will never forget that he spent all day with my family at the hospital while my dad was having surgery for colon cancer. He was a great solace to his brother Stan. I greatly enjoyed hearing Uncle Jack speak so lovingly about Aunt Dot and his weekly “visits” he still had with her. I will miss very much not seeing him. He had, I think, a lovely life and I send to you, Vickie, Jackie and Kenny, my heart felt sympathy of your loss and joy also as you celebrate Uncle Jack’s life.##imported-begin##Annette Mattos##imported-end##
My wonderful Uncle Jack has left an enormous void in my life and in the lives of my family. He and our Aunt Dot were the people we wanted to be when we grew up. His devotion to family and friends was a constant and sustainable foundation that will be sorely missed. He once told me that my marriage to my husband Bob reminded him of his with Aunt Dot in so many ways. He had no idea what a kind and generous compliment that was and one that I will hold onto for comfort during this sad time. He so loved his children , their children and all of the rest of us unconditionally. Family was the bottom line for Uncle Jack and he had such joy in sharing time with everyone, especially the little one’s. What a great Dad, husband, granfather, uncle and brother. The best part of my Mom and Dad’s week was when he would stop by for lunch and of course bring his 3 pies for dessert. Always ready to give a smile and a laugh and most important of all, himself. He filled each role with love and left nothing important unsaid . Your in our hearts forever Uncle Jack. Blessings to you and your, Your neice, Jan##imported-begin##Janice Lind##imported-end##
