Jack was a very kind and sincere person always willing to help that at times he was taken advantaged of and yet this never deterred him.Although he sold his freight forwarding business decades ago, he continued to informally offer his services. Whenever I visited my siblings in the Bay Area, he would be calling almost daily to offer to bring his truck so I could buy whatever big items I needed from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco etc. He would even get Marlene to join him in bringing us shopping for shoes and clothes and dining at the best buffets or popular American restos. Rest In Peace, dear Jack and thank you for your friendship to our family.

I met Mr. Chang when I was about 7 yrs old 38 years ago. I lived in the next court to Mr. Chang’s family for about 20 years and have been friends with Darrin, Kevin and Ryan ever since. If anyone was to ask our group of friends who the coolest dad was, I am sure all would shout out “Mr. Chang!”He was always a nice person who greated all who came over to their home with a smile and an inviting nature. I have lasting memories of watching vhs movies with Mr. Chang and the family in their family room. I recall many evenings in the summer we would play basketball on the driveway and he would come home in the beige civic hatchback from work. He always had a positive attitude and loved to share stories about what’s been going on in current affairs. Even though I was just what would be considered a kid at the time, I enjoyed my conversations with Mr. Chang greatly. Part of who I am as a father today has been shaped by my experiences with Mr. Chang. Thank you Mr. Chang for being such a wonderful human being. You will be missed but never forgotten. -Ron

Jack, thank you for being a true friend to me and for the kindness and thoughtfulness ever since I met you through the Kho family. You have been so appreciative of everything and never complained even if something was not okay with the “bed & self-service” at the penthouse here in Manila whenever you came to visit. When you emailed goodbye, we all felt very sad but were hopeful you would still be able to come again. Rest In Peace and Goodbye.

Jack is the first friend I made when I was new in this country, a little more than 30 years ago. He was also the one who introduced me to Pho, which was what we had most of the time in the many lunches we shared in San Fran Chinatown.We met thru business, but the relationship grew into friendship. He even invited my sister Caroline and me to his home in Fremont for BBQ. We were then living in SF, and I guess we got quite attracted to Fremont that we moved and today, we still call Fremont home.Jack, when Vicki and I visited you at the hospital last month, you were so alert that we thought you were on the road to recovery. We made a mental note to visit again after you were settled at the Veteran’s. We regret we were not able to see you again. We will miss you, Jack. Farewell, dear friend, and rest well.

In the last few years when I happened to be out of a job, you unexpectedly called me randomly during the day to discuss the Warriors’ and Pacquiao’s upcoming matches. You were the first stranger my brother Ken and I befriended in 1985 when we began our company’s USA operations. You proved to be a business partner whom we could trust completely. Most importantly, you were a very dear friend whom we called on thru life’s ups and downs. I am sorry I wasn’t home on the day you called our house which in hindsight was your way of saying goodbye. We are honored to have known you, Jack. You will be missed terribly.
