Humberto Dos Santos Barradas' Obituary
Humberto dos Santos Barradas, 98, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son, and friend.
He was born on December 29, 1925, to loving parents Luciano Barradas and Madalena Barradas in Carnaxide, Oeiras, Portugal. At age 17, Humberto entered the military academy Pupilos do Exército. Afterwards he dedicated many years of his life to serving his country in the Portuguese Air Force, serving as a navigator and an aviation mechanic. Throughout his military career Humberto lived in multiple places, including the US, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, and Guinea-Bissau.
Humberto was known for his commitment to his work, his love for his family, and his passion for life. He was the life of the party, always sharing good wine and laughter with friends and family. In quiet moments, he could be found gardening or drafting architectural blueprints for houses of his own design. He remained very active well into old age, going for walks nearly every day and befriending everyone he met.
Humberto lived a fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew him. His kindness, humor, and wisdom will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Humberto dos Santos Barradas is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Filomena, his devoted daughters, Ana (Aninhas) and Lurdes (Kikas), seven loving grandchildren, eleven cherished great-grandkids, and many loyal friends and extended family members.
A memorial service to celebrate Humberto's life will be held on Friday, April 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Chimes in Hayward. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m.
