A very nice and sweet sentiments Gina. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
I was 12 when my parents moved to Placer, Surigao Del Norte, in 1978 for my father’s promotion as the elementary school principal….We lived in Mana Inday Antido’s house, 4 houses away from Mana Nonie’s. When she learned that I play the piano and have nowhere to practice, she invited me to come every day to her big house. She was wonderful, every day Monday to Friday from 5 pm onwards, I played my heart away in her piano; and I get merienda all the time. In one occasion she introduced me to a family friend of hers who was a pianist who came home from Japan and I learned a few things from him; too bad I cannot recall his name. My visits in Mana Nonie’s house went on for a year until I finished elementary and I moved to the city for my high school studies. She kept that flame for my interest in music, I became a church organist, piano teacher (Giselle being one of my students) and now I play as volunteer pianist in one of the biggest hospitals in Canada. That was 36 years ago; the only chance I had to say thank you to her was through Giselle in FB; I wish I played for her in person; she probably would have loved it. Rest in peace Mana Nonie. I owe you a lot! Thank you very much for your kindness. Arfel Brampton, ON, Canada
