George Francis Acia Jr. Dec 10 1929- Aug 12 2015On August 12 George Francis Acia Jr., passed peacefully with his family and loved ones at his side.Born December 10, 1929 in Hilo Hawaii. Preceded in death by his parents Louisa and George F. Acia Sr., his brother Rudy Acia and sisters Margaret Rodrigues and Beatrice Vida. Survived by his children Georgeann (Dent) Flemmings, Dominic (Grace) Acia, Louise (Jerry) Perez, George (Alita) Acia Ill, Beatrice (Greg) Daijogo, Tina Acia (Michael Brown), Stepdaughters Debra (John) Correa, Donna Vim (Bobby). Also survived by his wife Frances and her five additional children. He was survived by 46 Grandchildren 59 Great Grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, many Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends.George was well known for his Puerto Rican Jibaro style music. Active in the Puerto Rican community, he also participated in many 50th State Athletic Club activities. George is a veteran of the Korean War and retiree of the City of Alameda Municipal Golf Course. George brought much joy to those who had the pleasure of dancing and listening to him and his band, George Acia and Combo. When not playing his cuatro, or writing original music, George enjoyed bowling, fishing, cooking and taking his children on long spontaneous drives. George found comfort in gathering with friends to “talk story”. George’s music has continued to influence generations of young musicians. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.Services will be held as a celebration of life at Chapel of the Chime in Hayward, California. Viewing will take place on Sunday, August 23rd from 5:30-9pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 24th at 10am.
