Frederick T. Allen Resident of Union City Nov 12, 1936 – Feb 23, 2016Fred Allen passed away on Tuesday after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He inspired and touched many lives and always put all others ahead of himself.Fred was born in Troy, NY on November 12, 1936 to Thomas and Ella Allen (Emigrated from Ireland in 1921). After graduation from Hoosick Falls High School, Fred enlisted in the US Army and was active from 1954-62. He served his country in Greenland with his main duties as Military Railway Svc Diesel/Electric, diesel engine repair and heavy construction equipment repair. Fred married Marcia Brown on October 17, 1959 in Hoosick Falls, NY. Fred was employed with ITT Flygt for 43 years from 1958-2001 in service sales and corporate training.Fred was active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 50 years and was most proud of his attendance to the National Jamboree in 1950. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award recognizing his distinguished service for having made an impact as an adult leader on the lives of youth. Fred was an active member of Optimist International for over 35 years. Fred had a passion for NASCAR racing, Yankees baseball, Trains and Garden/model Railroading. He was a proud member of the Bay Area Garden Railway Society for the last 16 yrs. Fred was a member of Niles Discovery Church since moving to California in 1969.Fred is predeceased in death by his parents, Thomas and Ella; son, Frederick C. Allen. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Allen. Son, Tom (wife, Natalie), granddaughter Ashley of Union City. Grandchild, Frederick of Carson City, NV. His generous loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Monday, Feb 29, 2016 from 5-9pm and a funeral service on Tuesday, Mar 01, 2016 at 10am at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward CA 94544.
