Fred was a very special person, eccentric in a very good way like most of my friends. Some of my best memories of him are those made when we all got together in Moose Creek in the Idaho Wilderness Area for the semi-annual ‘boy’s trip’ organized by our mentor and good friend, John Paul. Fred had almost a British sense of humor, sort of dry…About three minutes after he’d say something, I’d think about it and go:”I can’t believe he just said that.!!!” Fred shared a deep love for aviation, old airplanes, basically anything that had wings…even winged creatures! Freddie was a icon around Livermore Airport. He got his hangar around 1982 and knew almost every tenant on the field. Freddie was well know for is Bats. He would come in to the office once a month to pay his rent, and always had a Bat in his shirt pocket. Scared the heck out of the ladies. Freddie was also very helpful when it came to work on Airplanes. He was also the Ground crew of the Aerial Towing Service. He always made you find the target for the banner pickups. Fred was enthusiastic about a lot of things! I can tell you, I now know more than I ever thought possible about bats! I will always remember the energy he showed when talking about the PT, and of course I learned lots about that, too! I am glad that I got to fly with him in that airplane, as we had talked about it for years but finally got the opportunity just a few weeks ago. I’ll miss you, Fred. It is an honor to have known you.

Fred was a good man to know. We all will miss him very much. He had many stories he shared. One story was about flying up to the Pauls to attend a small airshow and buzzing their back yard before landing at the airport. It’s sad to see him go but I know he must be happy with a new set of wings and to be flying again.

You were a great man Fred i’ll miss you. You always made me laugh when I had a long day setting up banners and billboards. I remember how you taught me to drive the company car. I remember when you asked me “Wheres the taco sauce” when I got us Taco Bell for lunch one day. I’ll always remember you Fred.
