In loving memory of Charlene Wang 1987-2015Charlene Wang passed away suddenly on December 21, 2015 in San Francisco, CA. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend.Charlene was born on November 8, 1987. She received her undergraduate degree from UCSD in Biology and Archaeological Anthropology. She was passionate about helping others which led her to to dedicate her academic and professional career to science and research. She went on to do HIV research at the NIH in Washington DC and then study for her PhD at Emory University in the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Program. She was most recently completing her research at UCSF and her life dream was to cure illness and save lives.In her free time, Charlene loved listening to music, discovering new food, photography, and traveling the world. She always knew the greatest restaurants and took pride in being a travel advisor to her family and friends. Her grand sense of adventure brought her to many corners of the world including: Italy, France, Belgium, China, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia.Charlene was smart, caring, thoughtful, and dependable — someone her family and friends could always count on to go out of her way to help those in need. She was greatly loved and respected by everyone who knew her and she will be missed dearly.
