Calvin Virgil Laymance's Obituary
Hayward – Calvin Virgil Laymance, 91, of Hayward, CA passed away April 29, 2023, in Fremont, CA.
A celebration of Life will be conducted on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, CA with visitation and hors d'oeuvres held afterwards at the deceased’s home. A viewing will be on Tuesday, May 09, 2023, at 4:00 pm at Chapel of the Chimes. Calvin will receive full military honors.
Calvin was born on July 10, 1931, in Worth Township, Illinois to Chess and Edna (Casey) Laymance. He married Laveda Floyd on October 23, 1955. They had two daughters. Calvin was a veteran Staff Sergeant pilot in the U.S. Air Force. Following his service, he was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and attending Cars and Coffee meet ups with his Acorn A club. He prided himself on the fact that he had the best tuned Model A and was even able to reach speeds of 90 mph. An avid sports fan, Calvin was a loyal Raider’s season ticket holder and dedicated collector of sports memorabilia namely, Super Bowl pins. Calvin was a passionate carpenter who enjoyed crafting furniture for his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving grandchildren Aaron Elliott and Devin Gilmore and beloved great-grandchildren Savannah Gilmore and Archer Elliott.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife Laveda and daughter Nancy Mitchell. His family knows he is welcomed with open arms into Heaven and reunited with his loved ones.
