Beatrice Castro1914–‐2018Beatrice Castro, of Union City, passed away Friday August 10, 2018 at Parkside Convalescent Hospital, in Fremont, CA.She was born on May 29, 1914, in Santa Ana, California, daughter of the late Isidoro Corona and Matilda Moreno. Beatrice’ siblings include Carmen, Minnie, Mabel and Leo who have preceded her in death. Beatrice was cherished by her family.She is survived by her son, Joseph Castro, Jr. (Maria), and daughters Mary Lou Ross (Steven), Rosalinda Busley (Ray), Delphine Tocchini (Joe), and preceded in death by her daughter Anita Castro, and sons Ronald Castro and Arthur Castro.Beatrice’ legacy is deep with 29 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren, and 2 great, great, great grandchildren.At the age of 18, while working in an ice cream shop in Stockton, she met the love of her life, Joseph Castro, and it was love at first sight. Times were tough with the 2nd world war, and crash of the stock market so the family had to move to areas where work was available. She lived in Stockton, Merced Falls, Hayward, and Union City.Beatrice and Joseph were inseparable and enjoyed a long and happy 75 year marriage until Joseph passed away, on their anniversary, in 2007.Beatrice was inquisitive, high spirited and challenged life. She had a love of music, parties, family and friends, and had a deep and soulful connection to the simplicities of life. Life was not easy, but Beatrice and her family members were very resilient. She had a strong belief system around hard work, a strong sense of pride, and was extremely thankful.She was a proud American.Mi casa es tu casa: She shared her home, her food, and her joyfulness. Whatever she had was to be shared and her door was always open if someone needed to talk. She was very supportive and the ultimate role model of positivity.Beatrice embodied the virtues of a loving mother. Beatrice will be missed, every day by her loving family, until we are able to meet again.Services will be held on September 8, 2018 at the Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA.
