Alfredo Grande Cacal's Obituary
It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Alfredo “Al” Grande Cacal, who departed this life peacefully and surrounded by his family on August 23, 2025, at the age of 82. Alfredo was born on December 23, 1942, in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines to Fernando and Aurilia Cacal. Alfredo moved to Hawaii when he was three years old and graduated from Waimea High School, Kauai in 1960. He attended Colorado State University for two years before joining the U.S. Army and serving for three years. He married his beloved wife Myrna, in 1966, and together they raised three children, Fernando, Geraldine and Joyce. Alfredo was a hardworking and humble man who built a lifelong career as a specialist welder, having done projects for NASA and eventually retiring from Northrop Grumman Marine Systems after 10 years. He was also a dedicated and loving husband, father and very proud grandfather. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman, he loved the beauty of nature and the ocean. He loved gardening and was always happy to share his bounty with family, friends and neighbors. He will be remembered for his work ethic, dedication, loyalty, patriotism and generosity. He will also be remembered for his financial and real estate acumen, along with sharing his favorite stock tips. Alfredo is survived by his wife, Myrna of 59 years; his children, Fernando (Elizabeth) and Joyce (Todd); his grandchildren Kadence, Taylor, Elea and Austin; and his brothers Artemio and Isidro Jr. and sister Angelina. He is preceded in death by his parents Fernando and Aurilia, daughter Geraldine and brother Junicio. A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 18 at 4pm. A funeral will be held on Friday, September 19 at 9am. Both services will be at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward CA.
