Zelda Abrahamson Kovats' Obituary
Zelda ‘Zel’ Clare Abrahamson (Kovats), was born June 10, 1925 in Omaha, NE to Edna and Oliver Holmes and passed away January 24, 2018 in Roseville, CA. Zel was married to the late Henry Frank Abrahamson in 1945 and until his death in 1986. Zel remarried Robert Kovats in 1995 until her passing. Zel leaves her beloved daughters, Maureen Rose Drotleff and Jennifer May Abrahamson, her loving grandson, Thomas Justin Drotleff, Son-in-law Bob Knickerbocker, Granddaughter-in-law, Erin Gwin Drotleff, and her beloved great granddaughter, Avery Muriel Drotleff.Zel’s passion was dancing and Dixieland music. She began dance at 3 years of age, and was a professional line dancer in the 1940’s, where she met her musician and band leader husband, Henry, at the Bal Tabarin nightclub in San Francisco during the 1940’s. Zel raised her family in Oakland, CA and was very involved in the Glenview School PTA for many years. She also taught dancing at the Walnut Creek Rossmoor Community, where she lived and met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Kovats in 1994. They were married on Valentine’s Day. Zel and Bob lived happily in Sun City, Roseville, CA for 22 years.Anyone who knew Zel, quickly realized how kind and considerate of others she was, always cheerful and always ready to laugh at her family’s sense of humor. She lived a blessed and wonderful 92 years and always said she had no regrets. Zel loved her family dearly and was over the moon thrilled to hold her great granddaughter.A celebration of Zel’s life will take place in late March for her family and friends.
