Yolande Schaffer's Obituary
Yolande Schaffer was born in Montreal Canada to her loving parents George and Berthe Lebel on September 25, 1926. One of two children, she lived in Montreal with her family until eventually moving to the United States by way of Vancouver. Yolande eventually met and married her husband of 34 years, Paul, and together they settled in the Bay Area calling Hayward their home..Yolande enjoyed a successful career as a supervisor in the medical care area of the Masonic Home for Adults in Union City, where she made many friends among her co-workers and the residents. After dedicating more than twelve years to the Masonic Home, Yolande retired to enjoy spending her time traveling and cooking.One of the things Yolande will always be remembered for is being a very good cook. She loved to sample different foods whenever she and Paul would dine in restaurants, then in own kitchen she would set her mind to the task of replicating the dishes she and Paul most enjoyed from the restaurants they visited. Not only would she be able to successfully replicate the restaurant’s dish but often times she would add her own twist making tasty improvements to the recipe.Yolande also enjoyed traveling, and one of her most memorable trips was a trip she took to Canada with one of her very close friends. Yolande took delight by revisiting many of her favorite places. She was also appreciative of having the opportunity to pay her respects to her parents’ and other family members who preceded her in death.In addition to traveling and cooking, Yolande enjoyed all types of music but especially found pleasure and relaxation in listening to classical music. She made friends wherever she went and loved life to the fullest.Yolande passed away peacefully on her ninetieth birthday surrounded by the love of her husband. She will always be remembered as a truthful, friendly, beautiful woman, and as a wonderful and devoted wife. In addition to her loving husband, Paul, Yolande is survived by her niece, Lulu, other family members, wonderful neighbors, and countless friends..
