Willie Rogers' Obituary
Willie Rogers, 82, passed away at his home in Hayward, CA after fighting an illness for sixteen years. He was born in Dunbarton, Louisiana on June 28, 1936 to Doc Rogersand Mary Fields, he was the oldest of nine children. Willie attended school in Dunbarton, Louisiana. He worked alongside his father-in-law Willie Williams for many years and later started a partnership with Esso and Texaco stations in Jonesville, Louisiana and Ferriday, Louisiana. After many years, Willie relocated his family to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he owned his own tire and repair shop called Excellent Mechanics. In 1954, Willie married Jessie Williams and to this union six children were born Wilma Rogers-Moten, Willie Rogers Jr., Patricia Rogers, Juliana Rogers, Andrea Rogers, and Katrina Williams-Torrence. In 1994, Willie relocated to San Leandro, CA due to declining in health. Willie is survived by his wife Jessie Rogers of Hayward, CA and children; Wilma Rogers-Moten (Arthur) of Hayward, CA; Willie Rogers Jr. (Dena) of Rio Vista, CA; Patricia Rogers (Edward) of Hayward, CA; Juliana Rogers (Charles) of Oakland, CA; Andrea Rogers of Oakland, CA; Katrina Williams-Torrence (Anthony) of Oakland, CA. He also leaves behind his siblings Arthur Collins (Betty) of Jonesville, Louisiana; Henry Fields and Queen Ester Fields of Flint, Michigan; Mary Drumgoole (Lionel) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Herman Collins of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Molly Collins-Hilt of Pineville, Louisiana; Susie B Collins of Baltimore, Maryland and sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Willie was preceded in death by his siblings Judy B Collins and Calvin Collins and two grandchildren Jabari Harris and Keywonishi Rogers.
