Willie Bonds Gilbert, born Sunday, October 18th, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama; Entered into rest on Saturday, November 30th, 2013 in Castro Valley, California. Age 77 years.Known as “Billie” to all those who knew her, she was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Asbury Gilbert and Lester Leona Laird. She was a 1954 graduate of Central High School in Shelbyville, TN. She retired after a 25-year career with Continental Can Company.Billie was a person who very much loved sports, and she followed Alabama college football and San Francisco baseball, as well as the Oakland Raiders, while also enjoying the game of bowling. She also loved to play poker with friends and family. She was known to her friends as someone who would never hesitate to help someone out who was in need, and she will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to make her acquaintance.A Memorial Service to honor Billie’s life was held on Thursday, December 12th, 2013, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, at Chapel of the Chimes Reflection Chapel, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.Private Inurnment will take place at a later date, at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Hayward, CA.
