William Henry Paul Garvin's Obituary
William Henry Paul Garvin, 9/6/1931 – 8/6/2016, died peacefully in his sleep, in Hayward, CA, at age 84. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years Cleo (Garofalos) Garvin and by infant daughter Tina Catherine Garvin. Survived by his grieving children: daughters Anna Garvin-Lay, Marian Garvin-Wohlwender (Steven), Eleni Garvin-Briant (Robert), Diane Garvin-Ferrer (Jordi) and son Mark Garvin. Papou to 8 loving grandchildren. Survived by many many extended family members. Born in Middletown, OH to Minnie (Johnston) and William Henry Garvin, Bill graduated from Middletown High after attending Holy Trinity School. He served stateside in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and then attended Miami University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Math then a Masters in Political Science. He helped his wife with activities in the local Greek community before moving to Chicago and then Fair Oaks, CA, a suburb of Sacramento. Bill enjoyed traveling, studying history and languages, and taking long walks with his wife Cleo. After a three year decline from Alzheimer’s, Bill went to sleep and peacefully left us the next day. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to WGUC.orgor your local PBS station. The ceremony will be held at Woodside Cemetery 9/3 at 11am in Middletown OH.
