We always enjoyed seeing Uncle Bill at our family get-togethers. My Mom liked talking to him at Christmas gatherings. Often Uncle Bill would stand up (instead of sitting) and talk to you. He had lots of energy. Uncle Bill was always very positive and had a great outlook on life. Our favorite advice from Uncle Bill was: “Don’t worry about planning to attend some event in the future. When the day arrived and you felt like going, then go and have fun. Live in the now.”
We so enjoyed having Uncle Bill at our Easter gatherings, Thanksgivings & Christmases. We have photos of him and my mom sitting as the “two elders” of our gatherings.A great & gentle spirit & we will remember him fondly.
My Great Uncle Bill, if not for him I would not be here. He choose to take my mother from Oahu (following Bombing of Pearl Harbor) to San Francisco to live with his mother and father, along with his brothers. If she had stayed in Hawaii, she never would have been able to meet my father. Over the last ten years, we had good times together. Attending family gatherings and gambling trips as often as possible. I will miss him very, very much. I wish you much Aloha Uncle Bill as does all your family!
He told me regularly, “Don’t worry, and don’t be afraid to say, Enough is Enough.” Mr. G was my best friend and mentor. He gave me many fond memories to keep in my heart and I will treasure them for the rest of my days. Farewell my friend. Rest peacefully.
