William T. Ferreira's Obituary
In Loving Memory of William T. Ferreira “Poppy”Bill Ferreira was born to William Sr. and Lillian Ferreira in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 30th, 1940. The family moved to California when Bill was 10, where he later attended Bishop O’Dowd High School and San Jose State University. Bill married Shirley Ann Allen on June 21st, 1963 at St. Leonard’s Church. Together they raised three children in San Leandro and Union City.Over the course of his career, Bill worked as an M.P. in the Army, as a Hayward Police Officer, in the Alameda County Sherriff’s Bureau, a private investigator, a polygraph examiner and later as a realtor. Along with his work in public service, Bill was active as a volunteer for Union City youth sports and the Parks & Recreation Commission.Bill will be remembered for his enduring sense of humor, his love of sports (especially the Raiders, A’s, Warriors, and Sharks), and his love for his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley, and three children: Carrie, Denise, Darren and his Wife Michelle. He is survived by eight grandchildren: Edward and his wife Nicole, Desiree, Tiawny and her husband Caleb, Brittany, Daniel, Marisa, Justin, Darren Jr., one great grandson, Hunter, and his dog/best friend Gizmo.The family will receive visitors at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard in Hayward, on Tuesday, April 19th, from 5:30 to 9:00pm. Funeral Services will follow at the same address on Wednesday, April 20th at 11:00am, with committal service immediately afterward.A reception will follow with food to celebrate William’s life at: Eden Garden Estates, 1150 W. Winton Ave. Hayward
