Wayland Lee's Obituary
Wayland Lee Oct. 30, 1926 – Sept. 24, 2011 Resident of Castro Valley & Oakland Wayland Lee (Lee Ging Wai) passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Sept. 24, 2011. Born to Mon Fong Lee and Wong Shee Lee on Oct. 30, 1926, in Chong Bien village located in Guangdong Province, China. Wayland graduated from Oakland Technical High School and owned and operated Wayland’s Market in Oakland for 34 years. In his younger years he performed as a magician at many Chinese community events, including the Miss San Francisco Chinatown pageant. Wayland Lee is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mamie and his four sons Lester (Joan), Sidney, Edmond (Linda), and Alvin (Jeannette) Lee; five grandchildren Christopher, David, Christina, Ryan and Ashley Lee. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Warren) Gee and brother Richard (Linda) Lee; He was predeceased by his sister Dora (Ben) Dare and sister Maryann. He leaves behind numerous other relatives across the US and China. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 pm with funeral services at 1:30pm, Sat., Oct. 8, 2011 at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward CA, followed by internment at Chapel of the Chimes.
