Warren David Burns' Obituary
Warren David Burns passed away on Wednesday, December 3rd, at home surrounded by his family. He touched many lives with his loving, caring, positive personality. Warren was born in Oakland, California and graduated from McClymonds High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served 4 years in the South Pacific in WWII on the minesweeper USS Captivate. After returning home he studied at Oakland City College and Laney College and eventually joined the Carpenters Union and enjoyed a 35 year career as a Master Carpenter and Contractor. He also had a second career at the Pacific School of Religion as the Superintendent of Buildings and Groups. Warren loved his Oakland Raiders and was a loyal fan since 1960. Warren is survived by his devoted sons Brian P. Burns and Scott D. Burns of Castro Valley, granddaughters Kristen Burns Farias of Castro Valley and Brittany Burns Batteate of Livermore, great grandchildren Mereina Farias of Castro Valley and Scott Batteate of Livermore. Warren is precedded in death by his beloved wife Rose M. Burns and brothers Herb Quinn, James Burns and Fred Burns. His generous loving spirit will be missed and he is greatly mourned by all that knew him. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Warren’s life on December 12th, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes, located 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward. 510-471-3363
