Wanda Subriar's Obituary
Wanda Lee Subriar was born Wanda Lee Williamson on September 8th, 1935 in Bakersfield, CA. She was born to Jervis and Molly and had an older sister LaVonne. Wanda first met her future husband Joseph at the tender age of 8-years-old. They met at their local Seventh Day Adventist church. Wanda and Joe went their separate ways, but as fate would have it, they were led back to each other in their early twenties and married in 1959.Wanda was a hardworking radiology technician and blazed a path of strong work ethics that she passed on to her daughters. She had twin daughters Donna and Deborah, who were the focal point of her life. Wanda was generous in her efforts to help people from all walks of life. She served in her local church and was known for her delicious casseroles. Wanda had a big heart, and a portion of her life was devoted to being a full-time caregiver for her mother who was stricken with cancer.Wanda and Joe moved to Boulder Creek, CA and worked full-time caring for children with intellectual disabilities. She was devoted to not only her husband, and daughters, but also to their spouses Jesse and Warren. Wanda graced her family and community with not only her talent of family devotion, but that of creativity, imagination, and culinary skills.In 1989 after working tirelessly running a home for troubled boys and being a caregiver to intellectually disabled youth; Wanda and her beloved Joe moved to Newark, CA with their daughter Debbie and her son-in-law Warren. During those years Wanda used her talent, love, and care to help turn a house into a home and help Debbie and Warren raise their daughter, Sonia. She spread her love even further, helping her daughter Donna and son-in-law Jesse with their children, Jonathan and Krystal. She and Joe spent their summers and winter breaks driving between Fresno and Newark with their 3 grandchildren always in tow.Throughout the years Wanda was generous with not only her time and service, but also, her strong memory and desire to share stories of her life. During gatherings at home, you could always find Wanda in her room surrounded by at least one person who gravitated to her for encouragement, wisdom, or sharing a story or two. In addition to being grandmother to her three, she was grandma to many others who she loved.Though she held many titles throughout the years her most cherished were wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and above all servant of Jesus Christ who believed above all “Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6The funeral will be held at Chapel of the Chimes at 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544 on Monday December 11, 2017 at 10:00 am with a viewing the evening of Sunday December 10, 2017 at 5:00 pm.
