Vivienne Matelich DuffJuly 5, 1920 – April 4, 2018Resident of Castro Valley Vivienne was born in Anaconda, Montana, to the late Marie and Joseph Matelich, and passed away at the age of 97.She grew up in Montana and in 1942 moved to San Francisco where she met and married Marine Capt. Henry L. Duff. They had one daughter and moved to the East Bay.Later on Vivienne went to work for General Motors Truck and Coach Division where she retired with 25 years of service.In retirement she joined the Eden Hospital Auxiliary where she worked in the trauma unit, the gift shop, and on the information desk. She enjoyed helping people and bringing them comfort. She volunteered over 4,000 hours to the Auxiliary.She lived her life with dignity and grace always fashionable, with a smile on her face, and a song in her heart.She leaves behind her loving daughter Vivienne Duff, Niece Cynthia Kelly, Nephew Michael Duff, her Grand-dog Bella Maree, extended family Justine Del Monte and many friends who were like family to her. She will be deeply missed.She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Janet Kelly and brother-in-law Michael Kelly.Her daughter would like to thank Dr. Michael O’Brien and the Staff at the Baywood Health Center who gave Mom care and compassion and were always there for her.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Gracenter, 1310 Bacon St., San Francisco, A 94134-1638 or Little Sisters of the Poor, 300 Lake Street, San Francisco, CA 94118-1397Services will be held on Monday, April 16, 7 p.m. Rosary at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward and funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 17, 1 p.m. at Church of the Transfiguration, 4000 E. Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley, graveside services to follow at the Chapel of the Chimes.
