Virginia Ann Potts' Obituary
Miss Virginia Ann Potts was born on January 12, 1947, in Ruston, Louisiana to her parents Lealer Scott and J W. Winzer. Her early childhood years was spent in Ruston, Louisiana where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and graduated from Ruston High School in Lincoln Parish. After to moving to Oakland, California with her family, she was blessed to have 4 Children, 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
Miss Virginia Ann was a strong-willed, kind, loving, supportive mother and woman of God. She had an undying love for all her children, Wilmer, Maurice, Timothy, and Venicia, Grandchildren, and Great-Grandchildren, each grandchild had a moment of shine with her. No words can explain the love, strength, and devotion Miss Virginia Ann Potts poured into her family, she was a warrior and a conqueror. Miss Virginia taught her family everything was possible with God and to love God and put him first.
Simple pleasures in life brought great joy to Miss Virginia. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, and listening to gospel music. During the holidays, family, friends, and neighbors enjoyed her sweet potato pies, chicken salad, and famous mushroom chicken and rice along with a host of other food Virginia Ann prepared with love.
Virginia Ann cared and touched many with her great kindness and sweet loving spirit who taught her family resilience, and to show and give love with all their heart. Everyone who knew Virginia Ann knew she was a gentle soul, a kind, loving, person who made countless sacrifices for the family she loved very much. Her everlasting love will live with them throughout the rest of their days.
She was predeceased by her mother Lealer Scott, brothers Wilbert Potts, Willie Potts, sister Alice Scott-Clay, uncles Howard Potts, Leon Potts, and aunt Williemae Tarver. She leaves to cherish her memories, her four children Wilmer “Yvette” Potts of Huston TX, Maurice Potts (Maritza) of Hayward, CA, Timothy D Metters and Venicia L Potts-Thomas (Wendell) of Antioch, CA. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Latanzia, Marshae, Dominique, Taniah, Maurcedez, Malan, Keivan, Kyrn, Kayden, and three great-grandchildren: Mahzi, Canylah, and Bailey; brothers Jimmie Thompson Sr. (Mary) of Stockton, CA.; Johnny Scott of San Leandro, CA; Percy Scott (Theresa) of Fairfield, CA; and James Scott of San Leandro, CA and many nieces, nephews, a host of family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
