Virginia "Ginny" Lynn Pokorny's Obituary
Virginia “Ginny” Lynn Pokorny August 28,1947 – June 21, 2016Virginia “Ginny” Lynn Pokorny of Sonora went to be with our Lord June 21, 2016 surrounded by her family. Beloved daughter of the late Joe and Marjorie Clausen and brother Jerry. She was the loving wife of Tony Pokorny and mother of Weston and Jason, grandmother to Alexis, Daniella, Lukas, Tony and Kimberly. She is survived by brother Larry Clausen (June) of Fillmore California, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Burbank, California Ginny also graduated from Burbank High School. In May of 1966 she married Tony Pokorny and had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1979 the family moved to Oakland, California where she worked at several different companies in accounting and administrative support until retiring in 2003 and relocating to Sonora, California. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed camping, hiking and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed touring the United States and several foreign countries. Her favorite was a recent trip to Israel, Jordan and Turkey. She was so happy to visit the places where Jesus and the apostles preached the gospel. Ginny had a beautiful smile, loving heart and gentle spirit. She loved life and was moved to volunteer at the Foothill Pregnancy Center in Sonora. The center supports young pregnant women and young mothers in need. She managed the “Mommy Store” and the clothing donations. Seeing the mothers and their babies in the store was a very rewarding and joyful time in her life. She loved the Lord, spending time praying and reading her bible daily. Ginny touched our hearts with her beautiful smile and calm presence. We will always love you and cherish the wonderful memories you left for us. Memorials may be made in Ginny’s name to the Foothill Pregnancy Center of Sonora, 427 N.
