Virginia Herrera November 21, 1929 – July 13, 2016 Resident of HaywardBeloved widow to Carlos Herrera Sr. loving husband of 59 years. Virginia met Carlos Herrera her lifetime love at Lincoln Elementary School in Salinas, Ca. They grew into adulthood and fell madly in love. Two years later after a parental refused proposal they fled into the night into their happily ever after. And that they had! They were handsome dance partners, enjoyed the casinos, car shows, the beach (their favorite) and parties at home. They are together once again. Virginia became licensed by the State of California and was the owner/operator of a board and care home facility in the early 1950’s. Virginia single handedly passed every state requirement and was successful for over 40 years. Residents remember her for her home cooked meals. Virginia was a devoted Catholic member of Saint Clement’s Church, Hayward. Her faith was admirable and she prayed daily always giving god his glory for another day. Virginia touched many lives. She fed anyone and everyone who entered her home with a smile, no questions asked. Virginia not only housed state residents, but many people with no place to stay. Her heart and home were always open. Her legacies – Precious mother of Chelo Ballesteros, Vickie Gonzalez, Cinda Mariscal and Carlos Herrera Jr. Mother in law to Robet Ballesteros, Rigoberto Gonzalez and Salvador Mariscal. Witty grandmother to Carlos Herrera III who she raised and mothered, Bill Yanez who she was a second mother to, Natalia Alvarado, Angelica and Nicolas Mariscal, Michael and Carlita Herrera. Great grandmother to Tatyana, Carlos IV and Aubreyanna Herrera, children of Carlos Hererra III, Salvador Escalera, son of Natalia Alvarado, William, Jasmine and Alonzo Yanez children of Bill Yanez, Michael Herrera Jr. son of Michael Herrera, Dominic and Penelope Losoya, children of Angelica Mariscal, Baby Nicolas Mariscal son of Nicolas Mariscal whom she was happily awaiting, due on 8/14/2016. Virginia found so much joy in her grandchildren as they did in her. You will always be remembered Grandma Ginia. Until we meet again.. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at Eagles Hayward Lodge 21406 Foothill Blvd. Hayward, Ca 94541 following Saturday’s ceremony.
