VIOLA MABLE THOMA VIOLA MABLE THOMA Born Match 23, 1923 in Nicolaus, California Died December 14,2006 peacefully with family at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Youngest of five children of Walter and Mary Thornton Survived by her loving husband of 65 years – Earl F Thoma of Newark, CA. Daughter Barbara Cullen and husband, Jim, of Fremont, CA. Grandson Patrick Cullen of Fremont and granddaughter Susan Cullen of Newark, CA. Preceded in death by sisters; Evelyn and husband Merle Perry, and Helyn and husband Jack Howe, brothers; Laurence Thornton, and Herbert and wife Ellen Thornton. She is survived by sister-in-law Florence Thornton. She was an amazing seamstress who made all her own clothes as well as countless things for her family including daughter’s wedding gown and granddaughter’s prom dress. She loved gardening and had beautiful flowers in her yard and home. She was an avid baseball fan and loved rooting for the Giants. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was able to conquer the New York Times puzzles. She attended Heald’s Business School and worked in accounting for several years but her main career was her husband and family. She made a happy home for them all and could always be counted on in any situation She adored her grandkids and they returned the favor. She will be sadly missed and always remembered. Visitation for family arid friends will be Tuesday December 19th, 2006 from 4:30 to 8:30 pm. in the Reflection Chapel at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward CA.
