Chin, Victoria Wong's Obituary
Victoria (“Vicki”), 91, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2024. Vicki was born in San Francisco to Tim D.F. Wong and Fung Hi Pang, the sixth of nine children. She grew up in Chinatown with sisters Mabel, Roni and Mei and brothers Randy, Chung, Herb, Victor and Jeff. She attended U.C. Berkeley and after graduating, worked as a lab technician. She married Richard Chin on August 30, 1959 and had two children, Barbara and Ronald. The family settled in El Cerrito, close to Richard's place of employment at the Alameda Naval Air Station. While the children were young, Vicki stayed at home and enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, and flower arrangement. She eventually returned to the workforce, working in a dental office and as a bookkeeper. After Richard retired, Richard and Vicki became avid golf players and could often be seen at the Mira Vista Golf and Country Club. They also enjoyed traveling, good food, and being with family. In her 70’s, Vicki professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became an active member of the Berkeley Chinese Community Church. After Richard’s passing, Vicki developed many new friendships at El Cerrito’s senior center and also spent time knitting and playing mahjong. Vicki later moved to Fremont and lived with her son Ron and his wife Jill for a few years before moving to Aegis Living in Fremont. Vicki is survived by her son Ron (wife Jill), daughter Barbara (husband Tim), sister Mei, and brothers Herb and Victor.
