Vicente M. Lopez's Obituary
Vicente “Vince” M. Lopez, age 95, died October 1, 2019 at home after surgery complications.Mr. Lopez was preceded in death by his first wife of nearly 50 years Lillie Lopez in 1989 and his son, Vincent David Lopez in 2000. He is survived by his second-wife, Sothea and step-daughter, Sokhunveary Vann. Vince also leaves behind four grandchildren, Dianna Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Steven Lopez and Scott Lopez.Vince was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he bravely served as a medic and earned a Purple Heart during the Philipine Liberation and Victory Medal in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. The discipline, mindset and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as any of his friends and family will attest. Vicente was born in Marlin, Texas and grew up in San Angelo, TX before moving to California after the war. As a child growing up during the Great Depression, he learned the values of a strong work ethic and being financially responsible. Vince retired from General Motors to pursue his other passions of golf, travel and living life to the fullest. He took pride in the fact that he always made himself available to help family.The viewing will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA at 5:30 pm with the Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm. Services will be held this Friday at 11:00 am at St. Bede Catholic Church, and he will be interred in a family plot at Chapel of the Chimes.
