I met Aunt Peggy during World War II. We picked her up at the train station, when she came to San Diego to live. Uncle Butch, had already been shipped out… I was mesmerized by her… She had a hat with a black veil in front of her face, and I kept staring at her, wondering who had married my precious Uncle Butch!! I was happy when she lifted the veil and I saw her blue, blue eyes!!! She was beautiful… I remember that very clearly, and I believe that I was about 3 yrs old… Aunt Peggy was a fun aunt; she tried to teach me how to sew, when I flunked sewing in the 7th grade… she made all my beautiful recital dresses, when I was in grade school… And, when I was in the 10th grade, I got invited to the Senior Prom!! She made that dress, also, and put an extra ruffle around the bust of the strapless top, to appease my father. I have wonderful memories of her, in her kitchen making her Oooie Gooie cake!!! And cooking all kinds of wonderful things. We were very happy that we were able to visit her at the Masonic home, all the years that she was there. She would take us all over that beautiful facility!!! She started a little garden in her grow boxes, and before long, the idea took hold and there were huge veggie gardens!!!! All her idea!!!! She will be missed by all. I am sure that she and Uncle Butch are loving the reunion… Have a beautiful journey, Aunt Peggy. Love, Lulu
