I have a lot of good memories of Van and me growing up when we were young, but there’s one thing in particular I know about Van... that he was artistic & creative... & I do know for certain that Van liked his “views!” Haha😊 And I will never forget the time I realized just how much he liked his “views!” Years ago he & Dalene & the girls rented a house up on “Oakie” Hill in San Leandro & I had gone over there for the first time to visit him. No sooner was I inside the house he said to me, “Come here, come here, come over here” & then walked over to the front room bay window & opened the drapes & said, “Look at that view! You can see all the way across the Bay & all the lights at night too!” I mean to tell you he just loved that view!! And I believe that’s the reason he wanted to rent that house! And now fast forward to today & go with him to his final resting place at Lone Tree Cemetery & I can hear him say, “Come here, come here, come over here & look at that view! You can see all the way across the Bay & all the lights at night too!” And I believe that’s the reason why he wanted to rest eternally here! Amen & Amen🙏Brenda
The world has truly lost a great one. Vance was the most caring, generous, sincere, kind hearted,and honest person I have ever known. Good memories of him making a lemon meringue pie when Jeff asked him to.His baked brownies, old school board games,toys, out of this world halloween( my personal favorite!) and christmas decorations. We are so thankful he was a big part of Jeff's birthday party we had at our house. They sat in the chevell listening to music and talked about good times way back for hours until the battery died. That is now a cherished memory. He will be missed terribly. We are deeply saddened and wish Van eternal peace and love.......Michelle and Jeff Goulart
He would take me to Cal-State Hayward parking lot to teach me how to drive, later he talked Mom/Dad to loan me money to buy my first car. Later when he bought his first house, I loaned him some money for his down payment. Think I got set up for that. Was a good brother, will miss him... Glen
