“I never lost my praise”
Valerie Marie Jones was born in Oakland, Ca on September 18, 1963 at Civic center hospital to Oscar and Alma Swoffard who preceeded her in death. She was also preceeded in death by her mother’s only sister Sadie K. Edwards also known as “Auntie”, her mother’s brothers Ollie Randall and Clarence Randall Jr., nephew Roosevelt Gaither Jr. and Brother-in -law Raymond Reinosa Sr.
Valerie attended Castlemont High School in Oakland, Ca and graduated in 1981. Valerie sang with the well known Castlemont Castleleer’s and chamber singers for 3 years , where they performed at the white house for President Carter. Val was always smiling a “million dollar” smile, she enjoyed life, family and loved God with all her heart. Val was baptized and gave her life to the lord at an early age.
Valerie worked for United Airlines at San Francisco Airport where she retired as supervisor. She then proceeded to work for the United States Postal Service for another 16 years where she retired a final time in 2019. She later united in matrimony with Keith Jones in 2014, the love of her life and the father of her only daughter Ashley Marie Guzman
Val moved to Antioch, Ca where she lived with her family. She leaves to mourn her precious memories:
