Uncle Tommy was my childrens’ favorite! He loved taking us out to Chinese and always ordered (in Chinese) for everyone. One time Tommy had on a t-shirt that my son, Noah admired. Tommy took it off and insisted Noah take it. He was that kind of guy, giving you the shirt off his back. We will miss you so much Tommy! Jacque, Seth, Noah and Rose
Tommy had the biggest and most infectious smile just like his picture on the left. We never socialized outside of KTVU, but whenever he came down to the station to see Caroline, I was always greeted with a big bear hug and laughter from Mr. Chang. May you rest in peace. Nelson Wong
Tommy should have been my Chinese cousin. He loved to laugh and always had a good time. He was my Chinese food partner and we had planned a Hot Pot dinner in the near future. When I visited my dear friend, Caroline, many years ago in Oakland, she asked me to accompany her to a singles dance. She’d met a man at the same dance venue a week earlier and was hoping to run into him again. We went. He was there. They danced, they laughed and I approved ?? They got married, had their sweet daughter Tracy, acquired an assortment of cats and dogs, and spread laughter and love everywhere they went. You found a good guy when you found Tommy, Caroline. While I didn’t know Tommy well, I will always remember what a nice guy he was…always a big hug, warm smile and happy laugh anytime we were together at shared events. What a shocking untimely loss! Deepest and warmest condolences to Tracy and Caroline.
So we were together for many Christmas dinners and there was Tommy, smiling, laughing, sweet, drinking his Christmas Coca Cola and always sitting on the little foot bench by the sofa. What a doll. And, you also have your nerve. We were all going to meet at the Chinese restaurant you touted. did you think we would forget? You will be remembered by so many people. xxxjudy
Ray and I are having great difficulty in processing the news of Tommy’s passing. As with everyone who loved Tommy, we will remember his wonderful laugh, his kind heart, and his sensitivity toward his family, his dogs and his friends.
