Tomas Yambao's Obituary
Tomas “Meck” Yambao, Sr.Tomas “Meck” Yambao, Sr., of Hayward and Union City, CA, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018, at the age of 65. He was born in Santo Domingo, Minalin, Pampanga, Philippines, on March 7, 1953. Meck graduated and received his BS in Civil Engineering from MIT, the Mapúa Institute of Technology, in Manila, Philippines. He then worked as a Civil Engineer for the CDCP, Construction & Development Corporation of the Philippines before immigrating to the United States in 1980 to continue his pursuit of a prosperous career. In all, Meck worked diligently for 35 years for illustrious companies such as Bechtel Corporation and Genentech, Inc., as a civil engineer and estimator. He was also a distinguished member and former President of The Mr. & Mrs. Club of California. Meck loved the group dearly and felt great joy in his life as an active member of this community. He was an intelligent and humble man who took great pride in his work.Meck was a loving and protective family man who was an excellent provider, husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his ten grandchildren. He had a passion for food, dancing, and watching Wheel of Fortune. He is survived by his wife, the beauty and love of his life, Lorna Garcia Yambao, to whom he was married for nearly 41 years. He is also survived by his four children: Christian Lorraine, James, Tomas, Jr., and Charles; his grandchildren: Isaiah Pacheco, Antonio “AJ” Yambao, Devon Pacheco, Jerrell Yambao, Alaysia Yambao, Julia Yambao, Makena Yambao, Charlize “Charlie” Burgess, Luna Yambao, and Atticus Burgess; and his siblings: Obdulia “Julia” Pangan, Cleotilde “Tending” Carreon, Eufracia “Ceng” Yambao, Francisco “Boy” Yambao, Nestor “Tong” Yambao, and Helen Pangan. He will be joined in heaven by his parents, Domingo and Julia, and sister, Leticia “Letty” Lugtu.Visitation arrangements will be held at 5 pm – 9 pm , December 26 and December 27, at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward CA.Mass/Funeral arrangements will be held at 11 am, December 28, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church 750 Calhoun St, Hayward, CA 94544.
