TINA CHIU's Obituary
After a 20-month battle with cancer, Tina Chiu passed peacefully on June 1, 2017. She is survived by her son, Alexander Pham; husband, Giang Pham; parents, Gordon and Elaine; brothers, Bruce and Phil; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will always be remembered by friends and family for her drive and passion for good company, great food and fun adventures. She completed her first half-marathon in October 2013 with a few weeks notice and minimal time to train so she can spend time running (and enjoying the laughs and meals afterwards) with her dear friend. Since then, she continued to run in other races and was training for a full marathon when she was diagnosed and had to halt her running. Ever the optimist, she continued to sign up for more races with the certainty that she would recover in time to run them. Tina requested to be cremated so her remains can travel to revisit old adventures and continue to embark on new ones. Her celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 17th, at The Chapel of Chimes in Hayward from 5pm to 9pm, with services open to family at 5pm and friends starting at 6pm. In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to make a donation on her behalf, we request you donate to a local youth sports organization in your community; preferably the organization your child participates with if you have children.
