Thu Tran's Obituary
My husband came to me today (Sat 1/18/25 @7:25 am),
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as I whispered that "I know."
I turned and looked back,
and saw that I was asleep.
All my family was around me,
and I could hear them weep.
I gently touched each shoulder,
with my husband by my side.
I turned away and walked,
with my Angel as my guide.
My husband held my hand,
as he led the way,
to a world with which he was familiar,
but with me, it was not till today.
I felt a sense of peace,
It has been 106 years.
Yes, I am ready for a change,
to a better world with my dear.
I enjoyed the company of my (oldest) son Bill,
who moved in with me in year 2020.
I enjoyed seeing my (oldest) daughter Helene and my (second) son Lai,
But having them to come was not easy.
I enjoyed the Saturday long-distance chats,
with my (oldest) daughter Helene,
who brought up stories from the past,
of movie stars that I reckoned.
I enjoyed the meticulous care
from my (second) daughter Katy,
who traveled from San Francisco,
to care for me was not easy.
I enjoyed the weight-lifting routine,
that was imposed by my (youngest) daughter Jeanne.
I might have whined and frowned at the time,
but her intent was nice it seemed.
I enjoyed the game of beach ball,
that Jeanne and I played down the hall.
The game made me happy,
as she let me win it all.
I enjoyed the gentle nudge and caress from my son-in-law Dennis,
after each of his carry.
I enjoyed his last kiss,
Oh boy, he made me so merry!
I appreciated my grandson Jay,
who rushed from the military to my aid,
When he heard of my hospital stay (in 2022),
he cleaned up my room without delay.
I enjoyed the super long mulberries,
that my (other) grandson Elian brought me,
they were very very sweet,
even though they colored my teeth greatly.
I regretted not being able to meet my great-granddaughter Kaya (daughter of my grandson Carlin and my granddaughter-in-law Jen)
whom I was supposed to meet next week.
But, I did see her on my son’s phone;
- gosh, isn’t she sweet?
I enjoyed playing mahjong with Mindy, Ann, Quyen, Anthony, Alexis, and the Good-Time group,
especially with Dave’s late mother,
whom I have not been playing for a while,
but now we could do it forever.
I enjoyed the many parties at Dave’s,
where he gave me a (reserved) parking space,
I was also treated like a VIP,
meals were served to my face.
I enjoyed the visits from the Huis,
sons (and daughters-in-law, and children) of my late (best) friend Mrs Hui,
We met at a hospital in Saigon,
When both of our husbands were being cured.
I enjoyed the weekly shower from Lien,
a personal assistant who was not only caring but clean.
She brought me “banh cuon”, “banh da lon”,
the bath made me feel good, I wanted to scream.
I thank Pacific Pediatrics and Dr. Kelly,
who allowed my daughter to be tardy,
so she could tend to my early morning needs,
and made me very happy!
