Theodore L. Balugo's Obituary
Theodore Leslie Balugo, 94, passed on in his home in Fresno, California, on October 28, 2015. Theodore was born October 15, 1921, in Petaluma, California to Pedro and Dorothy Balugo.Siblings included two brothers, Jaime Balugo, the oldest, and Eugene Balugo, the youngest. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Louise (Lopez) Balugo: daughters, Crisanta Soller and Catherine Morgan: sons Rico Balugo and Deeno Balugo: Grandchildren, Deeno Balugo Jr, Gianna Balugo Bainer, Ramona Balugo Waldman, Dario Balugo, Kaleia Balugo and Kyle Abraham.After graduating from Oakland Technical High School, Theodore entered the service, where he was deployed to the Philippines. Theodore was surprised to find that his First Filipino Infantry was sent to the hometown of his father, Pedro. Proceeding his service duties, Theodore made Oakland, California his home until 1964 when he moved the family to his designed home in the hills of Hayward, California.During his life, Theodore Balugo worked at the Mare Island Ship Yard as a welder. During this time, he commuted from Oakland to Vallejo every day, often times driving the work bus with fellow workers. After more than 10 years of commuting, Ted partnered with longtime friend, Clarence Carlsen, and started Carlsen’s Moving and Storage.Service was important to Theodore and Louise as witnessed through their involvement in the East Oakland SDA Church Pathfinder Club which they directed. For many years their station wagon was always on the road going to another camporee or parade. Ministry in general was a passion for Theodore as evidenced by the forming of the evangelistic trio of Albert Cruz, Joe Pena, and Theodore Balugo. Evangelistic meetings were held in the bay area and many lives were impacted.Theodore will be remembered by his soft spoken demeanor and positive attitude. He always wanted to know if Louise was safe and cared for. His quick wit and humor were traits that people always recognized. Theodore was a caring husband and a great example of a dad. As he always placed others before himself, Theodore knew the true meaning of joy… Jesus, others, you. Thank You Jesus for the many years we had with Theodore Balugo, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend.
