Ted Gainsley Woods, 92 passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at Sun Bridge Care Convalescent Hospital in San Leandro, California. He was born to Steele Slaughter and Mattie Elizabeth Woods on February 26, 1910 in Chicago, Illinois. He has been a resident of San Leandro, California 59 years. He worked as a Marketing Specialist for 39 years for Standard Oil of California. Ted was a member of Fruitvale Lodge #113 F&AM of California, Oakland Scottish Scottish-Rite Center, Golden Wave Chapter #103 Order of Eastern Star of San Leandro, California. Ted served many years in the Oakland Area Council and San Francisco Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In 1960, he received the "Silver Beaver Award" for his distinguished service to Boyhood.His parents, Steele and Mattie Woods, preceded Ted in death. Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Evelyn Woods of San Leandro, California. He was a loving and devoted father to his daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Dell Anderson of San Jose, California and to his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patricia Woods of Tonopah, Nevada. He was a proud grandfather of his three precious grandchildren; Robert Woods of Reno, Nevada, Larry Woods, Jr. of Reno, Nevada and Jennifer Anderson of San Jose, California.At Ted's request no services will be held.
