Sylvia Arias' Obituary
Sylvia Camarillo Arias 8/27/1946- 10/24/2009 Resident of Union City Born in Michoac n, Mexico Sylvia came to Decoto, CA as a newborn with her parents. She is a beloved wife and mother survived by husband Manuel, sons Roberto and Erik, and grandchildren Alyssa and Robert Arias. At age 15 she obtained her first job as office secretary for Tom Kitayama’s Nursery before ultimately moving on to lead a successful career of over 30 years as a state eligibility worker (EDD) and social worker for Santa Clara County where she retired from. She was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary church in Union City where she volunteered her time for many years within the church services and school activities. She devoted her life to loving and caring for her family as well as helping the Latino community in the Decoto district and throughout the Tri-City area. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sylvia’s life by attending the Visitation Monday, November 2 from 5 to 8:30pm, Rosary at 7pm, at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward and the Funeral Mass Tuesday, November 3 at 10am at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C Street, Union City, followed by the procession to Chapel of the Chimes for the Committal.
