Surinder Kaur Dhanowa's Obituary
Surinder Kaur 'Shindi' Purewal Dhanowa was born on December 15, 1947 in Jasowal Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Her father was an officer in the Punjab Police Force, and in part to his various postings she was able to live in many different parts of Punjab including Jalandhar. During college she was a part of the school’s giddha and cultural arts team, and frequently participated in the JalandharCity’s radio programs by singing folk songs and reciting poetry. She achieved a Master of Arts degree in Literature, and a Bachelors of Education degree at KhalsaCollege, Jalandhar. On August 6, 1971 she got married and moved to the United Kingdom, where she worked in the British Post office. In 1981, she relocated with her family to the United States, where she worked diligently as a banker for 29 years. All the people who she included in her life knew her as a selfless, kind-hearted, and charismatic person. Her loving and caring ways made everyone around her smile and feel welcome. She went out of her way to create long-lasting relationships and appreciated every single thing she was given in life. She will forever be cherished and loved by her husband, Kashmir Singh Dhanowa, and her three children, Sharonpaul, Karenpaul, and Jasonpaul. A Visitation will be held in the Reflection Chapel on Friday December 30, 2011 at 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 pm. with a witnes cremation at 3:00 pm.
