Sonja I Stone's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Sonja I. Stone (Von Samer) on November 29th at her home peacefully with her family. She was born in Mannheim, Germany on May 18, 1931 her mother and father passed away when she was very young. At about 4 years old she went to the orphanage and when she turned 18 she was able to move to her sisters whom she loved dearly. Sonja moved to the states at the young age of 22 where she proceeded to learn English from a German English dictionary determined to learn the English language.She had 3 children with her first husband. But met the love of her life (Paul Stone) and had her 4th child in the early 1960’s. She will also be remembered as a wonderful loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She raised four children and one grandchild. She loved Spending time with family it was her greatest joy to bake and cook for us. We were so fortunate to have had her in our lives for so long. She loved making dolls and knitting doll clothes for her granddaughter. She made many of her granddaughters clothes when she was a young child. she loved bingo and gambling and playing slots. But her favorite activity was just simply spending time with family and friends.She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Rosal, Franziska and her brother Hans and Her beloved husbandPaul Stone. She leaves behind her sons: Erick Stone, David Von Samer, Werner Stone and only her daughter RosiePonzo and granddaughter Elisabeth Stone-Braithwaite (Mark Braithwaite Husband) and her Great Grandson James Braithwaite. The family wishes to thank her sons, Erick Stone and David Von Samer for the loving care they provided for mom/grandma on a daily basisServices will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward , Ca. on 12/12/2017. Viewing will be at 10:00 AM – 11AMAM with the service starting at 11 :00 AM and burial afterwards. The reception will be held after the burial at the Stones family home
